ACTIVE ZAGROŃ – PLACES TO VISIT
HIKING AND BIKING TRAIL ALONG THE ŻYLICA RIVER
Need some air? How about exploring hiking and biking trail that runs along the Żylica River? It is a perfect spot for long walks or trips at any time of year. The trail starts by the City Hall and runs along the river to the square in the city centre, then to the “Skalite" Amphitheatre by the "Skalite" Ski Jump and the Central Sports Centre.
ST JAMES SQUARE IN THE CENTRE OF SZCZYRK
If you are after taking a break in the central place of Szczyrk then St James Square is the place to go. Located between the Beskidzka street and the hiking and biking trail, St James Square offers a place to relax with the picturesque landscape of the mountains and a stream.
CROSS-COUNTRY CYCLE TRACK AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING TRACK
All sports enthusiasts will be delighted to use a 1.85 km public route which allows for sports activities all year round. A cross-cycling route in the summer and a route for cross-country skiing in the winter. The route is located at Sosnowa street in Upper Szczyrk and is perfect for practicing cross-country skiing for both beginners and advanced skiers. Moreover, this route meets the requirements of the International Ski Federation and the Polish Cycling Federation for the organization of sport events for children and youth as well as the highest level international running and cycling competitions.
"SKALITE" SKI JUMP COMPLEX
"Skalite" Ski Jump complex is a must-see for all ski jumping fans. The facility was opened in 1937 and hosted the Polish Ski Championship in 1948. Since then the facility has been renovated numerous times: in 2008 a K-95 (HS-106) and K-70 (HS-77) hills were built and in 2010 the third K-40 hill was added. The complex hosts the most important national and international competitions.
CABLE RAILWAY TO SKRZYCZNE
Have you tried local outstanding tourist attraction? This chairlift operated all year round and offers a picturesque view over the Beskid mountain range. When the weather is good you can even admire the Tatra Mountains.

SANCTUARY OF OUR LADY OF SZCZYRK “NA GÓRCE”
Looking for a peaceful place for contemplation? Visit one of the most important places of religious worship in Szczyrk. It is believed that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared here on 25 July 1894 to twelve-year-old Julianna Pezda and in 1912 a Sanctuary was built. Next to the Sanctuary there is a Grotto of Our Lady with a small spring. This magical place offers both spiritual experiences and a quiet spot for relaxation with a scenic view over surrounding mountains.
HISTORIC SANCTUARY OF ST JAMES THE APOSTLE
This over 200 years old church is an architectural gem of Szczyrk. The most valuable items are the historic pulpit, stone baptismal font and stoup of 1800 as well as the painting of St John from the XVII century. On 24 April 2011 the church received a sanctuary status.
BATOR ART GALLERY
Art enthusiasts can’t miss a trip to the Bator Art Gallery, the biggest private contemporary art gallery in southern Poland. Founded in 1995 by Barbara and Mirosław Bator, the 200m2 gallery exhibits the works of over 130 artists and organizes exhibitions, art workshops, concerts, art meetings, author's evenings and many other cultural activities. Opened daily from 10 am to 8 pm.
